As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, Beaver County is creating a time capsule for the residents of 2076. While history books preserve the major events of our time, this project is capturing something just as important, what everyday life in Beaver County was really like in 2026.

At first glance, it may seem like a simple project. Place a few objects in a box, seal it, and tuck it away. But to us, it would become something far more important: a conversation across generations.

We know many of the major events of your era. We know the election results, the headlines, the economic reports, and the technological milestones. Those facts are preserved in countless archives.

What we do not know are the details of everyday life. We do not know what songs filled your cars, what restaurants were local favorites, what people talked about at football games, church suppers, town meetings, school events, and family gatherings. We do not know what gave you hope. We do not know what kept you awake at night. That is why we need your help.

Tell us:

• What you believe the year 2076 will look like.

One day a future generation will gather to open this time capsule. Children will stand beside grandparents. Residents will read your words, examine your photographs, and discover who you were. For a brief moment, half a century will disappear. The past and future will meet. You will remind us that our community did not begin with us and will not end with us.
